The CTH L (Janesville Road)
Reconstruction Project Website

Project Objective

The project objective for the CTH “L” (Janesville Road) reconstruction project is to design, prepare right-of-way and relocation plats, and final plans within two PS&E packages.  The approximately 2.5-mile project from CTH “Y” to Moorland Road will be widened to provide two driving lanes in each direction with either a raised median or center two way left turn lane (TWLTL).  The project will provide accommodations for left turning movements.  Right of way will be acquired to 60-feet from the roadway centerline with additional grading easements as necessary.

The project will require coordination with the City of Muskego (or their consultant) to incorporate items such as street lighting, sidewalks, and streetscape as presented in the Streetscaping Master Plan document.  Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS) will be required for the project to coordinate between Waukesha County, the City of Muskego and other stakeholders.

The project will be designed to meet current standards of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Facilities Development Manual and design criteria of the Waukesha County Department of Public Works.  Side road intersections will be brought up to current design standards.  The intersections of CTH “L” (Janesville Road) with Bay Lane Drive, Lannon Drive, and CTH “Y” will be studied and redesigned to accommodate projected future traffic volumes.  The intersections of CTH “L” (Janesville Road) with Martin Drive and Pioneer Drive will be studied to determine if signalization is warranted.

Preliminary plans will be prepared for the entire 2.5-mile project limits with anticipation that it will be broken into two final design segments containing individual right of way plats, relocation plats, Acquisition Stage Relocation Plans and PS&Es.  Project phasing will likely be broken down into: Phase 1 – west segment from Pioneer Drive to Moorland and, Phase 2 – CTH “Y” to Pioneer Drive.  Another alternative would be to use Lannon Drive as a breaking point in lieu of Pioneer Drive.
